In July of 1999, Pepper moved from Tucson, Arizona to Goleta, California to earn his degree at UCSB. Before his move, he was a 4A conference and city first team selection in high school, traveled with a club team during the summer months and played within the Arizona Diamondbacks Scout League. The club team traveled within Arizona, California, New Mexico, Nevada, Hawaii and Alaska. The Diamondbacks Scout League recruits future professional prospects to participate in the highest level of pre-collegiate baseball within the southwestern United States. He trained with professional scout Clark Crist of the Cincinnati Reds organization, and spent many winter sessions in the cage with long time pro Kenny Lofton. While playing collegiate baseball in Arizona, Pepper was forced out of the lineup as the result of an injury. He then turned his career goals toward coaching, directing recreational enrichment programs and personal athletic training.
Over the last 8 years he has dedicated his time to youth athletics through the Santa Barbara Parks & Recreation Department, The Elings Park Foundation, and currently is the Baseball Operations Manager at The Foundation for Girsh Park in Goleta. He has coached, mentored, developed and directed many youth programs and is deeply passionate about teaching baseball. He continues to play competitively in the Santa Barbara Adult Baseball League and teaches part time throughout the Santa Barbara and Goleta School Districts .
Full Count Fundamentals is aimed at providing an opportunity to student athletes who want to take their game to the highest level. No matter what age, baseball skills can be developed and perfected with the right preparation, understanding and dedication to consistent repetition. In a game of reaction, decision-making and mental toughness, the development of proper fundamentals help the game become more natural. Producing excellent habits and proper technique, demand physical and mental preparation with the ability to have confidence in every situation. It is this combined training of the body and mind that will ultimately shape the complete athlete.
